Zhen may come over to play warhammer again on Sunday. Haha. The last time I played was the sunday before this. Hmm... it was also my first actual game. The game was pretty scary, considering that his army practically dwarfed mine. He had two large regiments of 20 spearmen and a regiment of swordmaster. 10 or 15, I can't remember. It's a really good we had so much space between us. If not, I would have been slaughtered very fast. Especially considering about 90% of my models were archers.
Aye, the battle was long and brutal. His chariot and spearmen chased my dryads off in the first turn of combat between them. *Sigh* My only unit of close combatants other than my treeman. Which was very funny, because I chose to park my treeman behind the dryads and charge him later. Too bad, I didn't get a chance. Since my dryads fled, his two units pursued, and most unfortunately, decimated my dryads. However, this opened up his ONLY mage who was hiding behind the two regiments, meaning that I could charge my treeman straight into his mage. Mwahahaha! All it took was one turn to destroy the only magic user in his army. After that, magic and arrows took his army apart.
Suffice to say, I am very happy with my archers. They turned the battle and proved to be very powerful in the stand and fire reaction to charges. In fact, they took out the chariot when it charged one of my groups of archers. Which was very fortunate. If at any time, one of his regiments so much as touched my back line, I think I would have lost, and badly at that.
Too bad I lost my treeman and my dryads, though. The dryads fled in the first round of combat, which was really sad, and my treeman fled after sustaining one wound from spearmen, whcih was even more sad. Zhen's repeater bolt thrower didn't do very much either. It killed 3 archers before the crew were ruthlessly slaughtered by a hail of arrows. Yay!
Of course, having treesing as a bound spell to my treeman helped a lot. I could move the forests around, and moved it into Zhen's way... hee hee, then cast spells that were aided by the presence of nearby trees to deal 2d6 strength 4 wounds to his army. After a while it got so maddening that he started to try and dispel all my treesong attempts. Heh. There's a lot to be aid for having double the number of mages your enemy has. :D
It was a good day for the wood elves. And to girls who say otherwise. Umm... Legolas was a wood elf. :)
