Whaddam! New blog entry!

Finally decided to add a new blog entry, seeing as how I haven't in a long time. Happens a lot here at this blog, doesn't it? Not being updated in a long time? Haha...

Anyway, my prelims started last Thursday, with my Bio practical. The practical didn't go too well, they gave us some funny experiment involving leaves, water, light and sodium hydrogen carbonate. Never tried anything like that before. Needless to say, my answer was COMPLETELY different from all my friends and the answer they suspected was the right one. The worst part was, I had a niggling suspiscion that I wasn't getting the right answer, but the experiment was so long, I had absolutely no time whatsoever to try it again.

The drawing of the fruit was okay. But it was kinda funny. They asked you to cut a transverse cut and draw what you saw. So I was wondering what would happen if you cut and didn't see a seed? Would you then not have to draw the seed? The fruit was something like a Long bean, or somethign like that. It had a long row of seeds and lotsa space between each seed. True enough, my friend cut the fruit and didn't see a seed whatsoever. Fortunately, for him, not for me, he had the presence of mind to cut again and look for the seed. Haha, there's probably some doofus who cut and didn't see a seed and drew that. Too bad I won't get to know what happens if you do that. Hahaha...

To make it worse, we're the first shift this time around. Which means we get stuck for 4-5 WHOLE, LONG hours, in a classroom. Although, it does lead for some amusing tales, but it's heckuva boring. The laat time, I was third shift, 3rd of 4. So, after we got out and the last shift went in, we got to go home. This time we have to wait all the waaaay till the end. *Sigh*

Some guy brought a ping pong ball to the practical, so we started playing ping pong on the teacher's table. It got quite fun, till one of the teachers came in, saw us and told us not to play that again. So... we stopped for a while, drifted around, and eventually got around to playing a squash variant off the back of the classroom wall. Hahaha... then the same teacher came in, two hours later, and he was not amused. So, that was kinda the end of us playing ping pong. He didn't confiscate it, but we didn't exactly fell like puching our luck. Some other guys cut a whole chinese chess set from graph paper and started playing. The whole thing, all the works, it insanely hilarious, because everytime someone joined us watching the game, and he'd start poitning and giving advice, and the paper pieces would fly from the sudden movement of air. It happened when people yawned too. So eventually, I think the two guys gave up playing.

Also, watched LXG a while ago. It was okay, I think the comic was better though. I liked Sean Connery as Alan Quatermain. Although, I prefer the Dr. Jekyl, Mr. Hyde from the comic, and I prefer the comic's storyline. I thought it was so much better. The storyline in the movie was passable, perhaps more realistic, but I prefered the comic book one still.

Also, played my first LG campaign the other day with my bro as DM. It was really fun, course, my bro was also quite lenient. But his lack of knowledge of the rules, led to a poor battle plan from the final boss character. Haha, it's so cool. I finally got a cert that proves I've played one game!! YAY!! Maybe I'll go and laminate it now... Haha...

Memories

Well, had my Dad's Memorial yesterday. Many, many people turned up. It's nice to know that my Father meant a lot to so many people.

Had to read out Psalm 20 for everyone. Haha, didn't think I was going to make it. For those of you who want to read the psalm, there's a link at the bottom of the entry.

Psalm 20

1 May the Lord answer you when you are in dstress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your scrfices and
accept your burnt offerings.
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will all shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
9 O Lord, save the king! Answer us when we call.

Back from Penang

Well, here I am, back from Penang. It's good to be home. But I had so much fun there, I miss the place.

We stayed in a service apartment, my first time and everyone else's I suspect. And so, because we got so few apartments and such a large area, we had to fit 4 people in our apartment. So, I roomed with Cheng Xun, Nicholas and Serjin. At first, I only had to room with Cheng Xun and Nic, but when the officials discovered they didn't have their own room, they had to take one of them for them selves, and Ser Jin moved in with us. Ser Jin's reaction to us rooming with Nicholas was very funny. We were trying to decide who should take the room keys, as we only had 2, so we decided to give one to me and Nic. And Ser Jin overheard us and said,"Hahahaha, good luck, with Nicholas, you either get locked in or locked out." Ouch. Hahaha.

But anyway, it was really fun rooming with Ser Jin. We had all the comics, so we spent most of our first day in the room reading. Then, I taught them to play poker, and we bought ALL the fox sweets in the vending machine down stairs to use as chips. I got a full house for my last hand, and I won everything. The expressions on the other guys faces was hilarious.

The trip was really fun, cause originally, we were supposed to have heats in the morning and finals in the afternoon, but only three countries sent swimmers, so with each country only allowed 2 swimmers per event, it was all straight finals. So, our mornings were completely free and we soent them playing poker mostly. Hahahaha...It was also really good, cause we could wake up anytime, unlike most meets.

The food was kinda monotonous, so that wasn't so good. But we bought most of our breakfasts from the supermarket... no, wait, HYPERmarket next door. The signs said HYPERmarket, so SerJin and I thought it was really funny, so we got into a habit of calling it the HYPERmarket, emphasis on HYPER.

Our meet got pushed back a day for some reason, so instead of having our farewell dinner on Friday, they agreed to have one on Thursday specially for us. But our manager, M.C. Wong, told them we would do a second item. So, we rushed a second one, and it turned out horribly. Sheesh, and everyone also got very worked up over it, cause no one could agree on an item, but that's what happens when you have to think of one 3 hours beforehand. I don't know why they waited so long.

We also went to Gurney Drive to eat the food there, which was absolutely fantastic. Some of the guys went there and ate at MacDonalds though, don't know why they were so strange. And the officials gave us the choice of going there too.

I'm also very happy that we won the 4 X 100 Free relay, the last event. And becuase of that, we won the Championship cup. Yay! Heh... We also broke the Under-17 record. Hee hee, drama...

Finally, when I came back, my Bro and my cousin, Dennis was waiting for me with a big sign saying "THUM BINGMING FAN CLUB!" and a really cool cheer. Haha, you can check it out on his blog :P That was really, really funny :D

Meanwhile, I finally got around to taking a test my bro told me to take...
