Yay. I POP on Friday. I hope. Our OC isn't exactly the most merciful of people and I have the feeling he's quite... irritated with me. Hmm... perhaps, that's even an understatement. I have exceeded my no. of MC days allowed but that's not really my fault and most of the days were during times when nothing important was being done. Very lucky.
Looking back, I think I could have done a lot better. And looking at my company, it might have been quite possible to have gotten best PT and maybe even best shot or best cadet. Would have been interesting to have become an officer and got to do all sorts of stuff people don't normally do in life. Handling the GPMG, I know would have been one of the high points. Then again, I did make the decision to swim and everything I did during NS were made with that in mind. Hence the number of days off, the bookouts to see specialists, the pursuit of permission to swim, although in the end, I didn't swim much. Although, I feel the swimming in camp, however little, made a tremendous difference to my fitness/feel of water. Do I regret my decision to not become an officer and continue swimming? Perhaps still a little but I made up my mind a long time ago that I would see how far I could go and I think very little could change my mind now.
Also, I found out I actually enjoy giving massages. (Hmm... that's assuming there's no time constraints and I'm not feeling tired, so bugger off you people if you're trying to get one.) After being under so many sports massages, I found I'm actually able to duplicate some of what they do without any training. It's also tremendously enjoyable, the sense of being able to find knots and release them grants you a certain sense of... triumph? It's a strange feeling. But a nice one, no less. Of course, the fact that people are so graateful afterward does have something to do with it. And it's very nice when they go "Wah, bingming is damn good. It's like I'm in heaven or something." Heh. Very flattering but hardly true.

You know you've been away from school too long when you see the recruits lining up for their photo taking according to height and you say, "That... is a great example of continuous variation." and then the plane flies past overhead and you say, "That is a great example of Doppler's effect."
You also know you've been away from the pool too long if you're struggling to keep up and 12 year old girls zoom past you.
