Yeah, should have blogged about the meet earlier. Heh. But I went out with a friend afterward, got distracted... and forgot all about it. Then I procrastinated the next day and I've decided I put it off any longer, and I won't do it.
Anyway, I performed pretty well. The 100 Free turned out okay. I won 1st and got this huge trophy but I didn't quite do the time I was hoping for. Slightly off. Okay, way off. About half a second. Which is huge. Hmm... oh well. Until Mark and the rest post a time, I'm first in Singapore for the 100 Free. Hahaha... Yeah, yeah, not that fast and I know I'll get trashed soon enough but lemme celebrate while I can.
Anyhow, for those scant few of you reading this. I have just got to show you the size of the trophy. It's huge!
Oh, I should mention. I don't get to keep the big, hulking thing. Sigh. Have to return it sometime. It gets passed from one champ to another. I get my name engraved on it, though. So yay! And I keep the small one, not much and not as grand but still something. Hahaha...

Yes, finally got around to writing about it. Hmph. I swam quite well, by my count. I was ahead all the way!! Until the breaststroke. And then I lost it all. As usual. Did do a much better time, though. And I would have been very happy but the judge in my lane had the inkling of an idea to disqualify whoever he could in the lane he was judging and disqualified me. (He did disqualify 5 of 7 people. In a total of seven 400m IM heats) Of course, the official reason given is that I touched the wall with one hand. Apparently though, it seems I touched the wall with TWO hands NOT on the same horizontal plane. And I thought that debate died three or so years back. Evidently I was wrong.
The 50 Free was... okay. Not much to say on that. My time was okay. Not fantastic but fair.
And as for the Inter-formation swim meet, which finally ended today, it was needlessly exciting. And tiring. The 4 of us in the Naval Swim Team for the Chain of Command had no idea how fast the Artillary team was and considering they had Kenneth, Andrei and another ex-swimmer as their officer (2nd Lieu.), we were somewhat anxious. Hence the sprints done by the first three swimmers. Namely, Terence, Melvin (-yn?) Liew and I. We were neck-to-neck until the last lap where we found out their commanding officer wasn't much of a swimmer. Bah. They could have said something. Then at least we wouldn't have had to panic and sprint.
Well, that went... well. I guess. I did a 1:57.36. Huh. Personal best and all but still lost to Marcus and Bryan. Hmm... Oh well. By quite a bit too. Guess I still have quite a bit to make up. Kinda makes me wonder where I'd be if I hadn't gone in and ruined what I had before.
Still, I'm getting back, so I can't be completely disappointed and I think doing this well in such a short time is really fantastic compared to most of the other guys who came out. And I don't want to get caught living in the past and wondering about things that don't matter now. So, onward to the future and to saturday.
And so at last it's here. After having stopped for almost 3 months and rather painfully crawling back to where I am, I'm actually very happy with how I did on Sunday. A 4:08 for 400 Free is decent *cough*. Aiming as I am for the 4 double-oh, it's not that great. Plus, Marcus beat me by .03 seconds. Bit of a put off.
But I can't say he doesn't deserve it, he has put in a lot of effort and his training attitude has changed since last year, whether he knows it or not. It's good to know that more people at the COE are trying their best. So, I shan't begrudge him this victory, he found it in himself to sprint at the end and win by the tiniest of touches. Haha. But it won't be so easy for him the next time. And I still have 2 months.
Anyhow, I still have 4 days, including a 200 Free and a 100 Free that I quite want to do well in. I was, ironically, hoping to do the 1500 this time but coach decided I could do without it and concentrate on the 100 Free seeing as how I could almost make the qualifying time for it. i.e. the time for Australian age AND SEA games.
Bah, my boss is making me swim the chain of command on friday. Even though I found a suitable substitue to take over. He conveniently swapped my substitute for the other person who was supposed to swim, hence, I'm back to square 1. DANG IT! Oh well, won't be swimming too fast. A 27? 28, maybe? Who knows? Definitely not fast, though. With COSCOM. How on earth could we lose the chain of command!?
