MCR Quiz
The mixer event tonight for the Middle Common Room (MCR) was a quiz. We divided ourselves up into teams of 4-5 and were given 10 questions each in the categories of General Knowledge, Oxford Trivia, Current Affairs, Art, Sports, and Music. Prizes were on offer for first place, last place, and the team with the best name. For my team, I suggested either naming ourselves Schreodinger's Cats or Pavlov's Dogs, and we decided on the Cats. It was a good choice, as we later found out. After the first round (General Knowledge and Oxford Trivia), we found ourselves in dead last (ninth) with 5 and a half points out of 20. However, we fought back- John had answers for Current Affairs and Kohei was able to identify paintings and their artists, and after the second round we were sixth. In the third and last round, I came up with a number of sports answers, and Steve knew his music, and we had miraculously stormed to mid-table to finish joint fifth with thirty-eight and a half points! More was to come, however. After announcing the winners of the last place prize (a wooden spoon, of course) and the first place prize (a bottle of wine and a box of fresh cookies from Ben's), they announced that the winner of the prize for Best Name, Most Artistic, and Most Courageous Fightback from Last Place was... Schreodinger's Cats. In shock, I received the prize of a packet of Maltsers. "I can't believe we won something!" said Jon, and we all agreed. Yet, won we had. We were happy. What fun!
